This guide shows you how to add a thumbnail image to a product category in WooCommerce on WordPress. Adding category images makes your store look more professional and helps customers quickly identify different product categories at a glance.

## Log In and Open the Categories Screen

1. Open your browser and navigate to **WordPress.com**.
2. Sign in to the account where your WooCommerce store is set up — this is where you manage all your product categories and their images.
3. In the left navigation menu, click **Products** to expand a submenu of store inventory options.
4. From the options that appear, click **Categories**. This section is designed for organizing your products into groups, making it easier for customers to browse your store.

## Create the Category

1. On the categories creation page, fill in the **Name** of your new category (for example, electronics, clothing, or home decor).
2. Add a **Slug** — the URL-friendly version of the category name, which helps with search engine optimization.
3. Set the **Parent category** if this new category falls under a broader group. For example, if you're creating a category called "smartphones," you might set "electronics" as the parent category.
4. Optionally add a **Description** with more details about what products the category includes.

## Upload the Thumbnail Image

1. Scroll down to the **Thumbnail** image upload section.
2. Click the upload area and select an image from your computer or the media library.
3. Choose an image that best represents the category, as it will be displayed on your store's front end.

## Save the Category

1. When you're happy with all the details, click **Add new category**.
2. The category is created with the image attached and will now appear in your WooCommerce store with its custom thumbnail.

This simple addition enhances the visual appeal of your store and improves the shopping experience for your customers.
