in this video let's talk about all the
things flat rate shipping can do for
your store we've already talked about
shipping zones and those are essential
to be able to use a shipping method like
flat rate check out our shipping Zone
resources if you need to create some
zones to begin we need to head into our
shipping zones hover over woocommerce
then select settings and then the
shipping tab here find the zone you want
to add flat rate to and select its name
or when hovering over it select edit now
in a Zone select the ad shipping method
button
in that popup choose flat rate from the
drop down you'll see it added as a
method with a title its status if it is
enabled or not and its description we
can easily change these details and set
our flat rate by selecting the title or
in hovering over it select edit you'll
have another popup where you can change
the method title choose whether or not
it's taxable and set the cost now you
should know there is more to the cost
field then meets the eye while you can
set a simple flat rate like $5 there are
three placeholders you can use used to
calculate a flat rate qty for the
quantity of the items cost for the total
cost of the order and fee for a
percentage based fee here are examples
using each of those
placeholders say you want to charge $3
for each item in the cart type the
placeholder for quantity qty surrounded
by brackets then multipli by the desired
rate three in this example in all you
enter the placeholder add a space
asterisk and another space then your
desired quantity cost cost for our next
example imagine you want to charge 10%
of the total cost for shipping start as
before with our placeholder cost
surrounded by brackets then you multiply
that by the desired percentage rate of
10% when typed out it's the cost
placeholder space asterisk then the
desired percentage finally if you want
to charge 15% of the order's total cost
but also need a minimum fee of $10 for
shipping you can do that you start with
an Open Bracket and and then type fee
percent equals with the desired
percentage in our case 15 in quotations
add a space and then type men underscore
fee equals with the desired minimum
shipping cost in our case 10 in
quotations and add a closed bracket once
you set the flat rate for this Zone
